STORAGE : PRACTICAL MAGIC

Having designed more interiors than she can count, Jane Howell has learnt that storage space is everything. Quite simply, it can change the way a home feels. “Well-planned spaces feel welcoming. They comfort and inspire.”

“Cabinetry needs to be designed for practicality and ease, while having a balanced and graceful aesthetic”

ROOM RESCUE : PERFECT BLEND

Caught between a 1940s facade and a modern extension, this living room strikes a balance between old and new.

“Work with what you’ve got. For this room, I used the client’s original furniture. It worked well because it’s a more traditional space than the rest of the house.”

SENSE OF ZEN

When designing bathrooms, I strive to create a look that is simplistic, minimalistic and timeless, says interior designer Jane Howell from Howell Interiors, who designed this oasis of calm (below).  A motorised sliding window connects the serene splash zone with the neighbouring Japanese garden - and a pared-back palette with simple finishes wouldn't date compete for your attention.

{STYLE TO STEAL} The Moooi 'Random' suspension lamp from Space Furniture is a beautiful feature without making a loud statement, and Italian porcelain tiles in a terrazzo beige from De Fazio Tiles & Stone are a grounding choice.
